Our middle school, comprised of grades 6-8, strives to build upon the academic foundation that students receive at the elementary level in a nurturing environment. We utilize the A BEKA curriculum, supplemented by curriculum from Bob Jones University Press, Positive Action for Christ, Harcourt (Holt), Pearson/Scott Foresman, and Virginia Standards of Learning material. Our focus is to provide a challenging academic setting which prepares students for their future education at the high school level.
All middle school students study language arts, math (including Pre-Algebra & Algebra), science, and history along with participating in physical education and health programs each year. Our religion class is a key component that assists us in preparing Christ-centered students while providing an in-depth study of The Bible and its principles. In addition, students explore a variety of interests through the electives offered by First Christian School. Current electives offered include American Sign Language, foreign language, computer applications, photography, hand bells, and keyboarding. Field trips are also a key area utilized by middle school staff to help supplement student learning and encourage exploration of additional areas of individual interests.
We encourage our students to be active in their church and community by selflessly spreading the Word of God and His love. Middle school students complete mission projects during the school year and are required to complete community service activities during the summer.
The middle school team takes pride in providing a structured learning environment where students of all abilities are welcomed and embraced. We focus on building attentiveness, effort, cooperation, and responsibility based on Christian values and principles.
